Partnership with One Million Strong
The One Million Strong initiative is a collaborative platform build around one common cause – raising the next generation of leaders. Its collaborative partners are made up of numerous organisations, not just in Africa but in many parts of the world.
The organisation recognises the need to give our youth a voice, to address their concerns and to develop among them the next generation of leaders. Education is the weapon; schools and universities are the citadels.

Overview
MPA, in collaboration with WNL Network Training Academy, has initiated a transformative Youth Coaching Programme. This program aims to empower 12 carefully selected youth coaches from six diverse public schools in the Boksburg area. By providing a comprehensive training curriculum, we seek to not only enhance the coaching skills of these individuals but also catalyse positive change within the participating schools and the communities.
Benefits
The Youth Coaching Programme is designed to bring multifaceted benefits to both the coaches and the schools involved:
- Skill Enhancement: Through specialised training modules, coaches will gain in-depth knowledge of coaching methodologies, team dynamics and effective communication.
- Leadership Development: The program fosters leadership skills, encouraging coaches to become role models within their schools, promoting discipline and teamwork.
- Community Engagement: Coaches will engage with the local community, creating a positive impact by instilling values such as resilience, sportsmanship, and dedication.
- Academic Performance: Studies show that student-athletes often exhibit improved academic performance. The coaches’ guidance may contribute positively to the overall development of participating students.
- Sports Programme Improvement: By equipping coaches with advanced coaching techniques, schools can expect an elevation in the quality and competitiveness of their sports programs.
The Youth Coaching Programme commenced its journey in December 2023 and is strategically designed to conclude in March 2024. This carefully planned timeline is not just about completing a programme; it is about empowering our coaches to absorb, internalise and effectively apply coaching principles through engaging practical assessment tasks.
As a commitment to the ongoing development of our student coaches, the journey does not end with the completion of the programme. Beyond March 2024, all qualified coaches will be granted exclusive access to continuous guidance and invaluable coaching resources free of charge.
Furthermore, in a dedication to the sustained growth of our student coaches, an exceptional opportunity awaits. Even after the formal conclusion of the Youth Coaching Programme, each student coach will have the privilege of participating in continuous development sessions with our esteemed Master Coach. These sessions, characterised by personal mentorship, are designed to empower our coaches through ongoing guidance and support.
The aim is not just to graduate coaches but to cultivate a community of individuals committed to perpetual learning and improvement. By providing access to master coaching sessions and personal mentorship, we strive to ensure that our student coaches continue to evolve and thrive in their coaching endeavours long after the Youth Coaching Programme reaches its conclusion.
Challenges and Positive Mitigation Efforts
As we progress with the Youth Coaching Programme, we recognise and proactively address certain challenges to ensure an optimal coaching experience for our student coaches.
