MPA has partnered with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to offer their first two learning programmes leading towards the Accounting Technician designation (rereferred to as ACCA-X). On completion of the programmes, the learners will earn a micro credential.
ACCA-X is an online programme that initially trains the educators to use the system and the educators, in turn, train the learners.
Multi-award-winning ACCA-X courses are of the highest quality and are available on-demand and accessible 24/7. With a wealth of interactive and engaging content to ensure students understand what they are learning and a first-time pass rate of 87%, the content fully prepares educators and learners for the assessments.
The ACCA-X programme has been mapped to the DBE’s accounting curriculum and the modules will be introduced as follows, starting from the current Grade 9 learners:

The main challenge with implementing this programme in our participating schools is the computer facilities at some of the schools.
However, even where schools have adequate computer facilities, the fact that their internet connectivity is at best, unstable, is an enormous challenge. MPA will be taking up this matter with the relevant district officials of the GDE.

Standard Bank provided a fully outfitted computer room for Oosrand SOS. We subsequently requested additional computers for Oosrand SOS and new computers for Mpilisweni SOS.

The Amazon free cloud computing training started in February 2024. All participants will benefit from micro credentialling.
An online meeting was held in December 2023 with the ICT Educators and HODs at the participating schools. At this meeting, a roll out plan and requirements for 2024 was agreed with AWS.
This programme is structured in such a way that the educators first work through the programme online and then take the learners through it at pre-scheduled times.

PluggedIn is a career success platform designed by Standard Bank.
The platform allows learners to gain access to innovative career assessments, learn their strengths, gain insight into their personality and identify a career path best suited to them.
It is an amazing platform and there is nothing comparable in South Africa. In addition to career path assessment and guidance, it also gives learners access to many short courses for which they can achieve micro credentials. The platform also assists with subject choices, shows all the careers in a particular field, where the subjects can be studied as well as bursaries that can be applied for.
The training of the LO educators was done online by Yenza on 19 February 2024 at Katlehong SOS and Mpilisweni SOS.
We are hoping to make this this platform available to all our participating schools.
