Ms Mulder trained for her CA(SA) at KPMG before joining the Public Accountants and Auditors’ Board in 1985 as Education Officer, a position she held for five years before being promoted to Director: Education and Training. She joined The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) in 1999 to head the Transformation and Growth Division, where she developed a comprehensive transformation plan and strategy that evolved into the Thuthuka Education Upliftment Project and the Thuthuka Bursary Fund.

After 37 years at SAICA as the Executive Director for Learning, Development and National Imperatives, SAICA joined Marketplace Academy as the CEO.
Chantyl’s unique skills and experience are highly valued and have seen her serve as a member of many external organisations, including inter alia:

  • The President’s B-BBEE Empowerment Advisory Council (two terms)
  • The advisory council subcommittee: Skills Development and Employment Equity (Chairman)
  • The Technical Working Group—Human Resource Development Strategy of the Department of Higher Education and Training—Ministerial appointment. The Ministerial Task team was appointed to investigate the development of professionals and skills required by the country.
  • The South African Qualifications Authority Professional Bodies Reference Group
  • Walter Sisulu University Council Member and Chair of the WSU Finance Committee
  • Ministerial Task Team dealing with the so-called “missing middle” and responsible for the implementation of the pilot (ISFAP) and working with relevant teams on the final build for the country
